Tezpur University is a Central University. Academically it is very strong, but still many students don’t know much about it because its exposure is quite limited. That’s why I am writing this blog.

Abhijeet scored 186 marks in CUET-PG (OBC category).
He was selected in JNU (4th shortlist) and also got Tezpur University through CUET-PG.
Tezpur University – Basic Details-
- Central University
- Located in Tezpur, Assam
- Distance from Kanpur is around 1700 km
How to Reach-
- Route No 1 -Kanpur to Guwahati by train, then 200 km bus to Tezpur
- Route No 2-Alternate route: Kanpur → Rangapara → Tezpur
Campus & Hostel-
The campus is very big, around 250 acres. It is clean, green and peaceful. Hostels are neat, clean and well maintained. Overall campus life is very good.
Admission Process (MCA)-
- 30% seats are filled through CUET-PG
- 70% seats through TUEE exam
Eligibility-
- CUET-PG candidates need minimum 55% in graduation
- TUEE candidates need minimum 60% in graduation
Fees Structure (MCA – 2 Years)-
First Year
- Around ₹24,000 (tuition + hostel)
- Mess charges are extra
Second Year
- Around ₹18,500 (tuition + hostel)
Caution money is taken but refunded after course completion. Compared to other universities, fees are very low.
Academics-
Faculty members are highly qualified. Classes are properly scheduled and well managed. This university is very good for GATE, NET and JRF preparation.
Placements-
Some of the main recruiters are:

- Accenture
- Forest Lake
- NIELIT
- NIC
About 30–40% placements happen on campus.
Around 60–70% students get placed off campus, mostly with help from seniors and alumni groups.
CUET-PG Cut-off (MCA)-
According to Abhijeet, for MCA admission through CUET-PG, a score of around 140 marks is generally safe.
TUEE Exam Details-
- Notification comes between March–April
- Exam is conducted between May end to June
