Many NIMCET aspirants are always confused about eligibility.
Every day students ask:
“Am I eligible for NIMCET?”
“Can I appear in NIMCET?”
“I am confused about NIMCET eligibility.”
Although NIMCET eligibility is clearly written on the official website and many other websites, still confusion remains.
So here is the official NIMCET eligibility and its simple breakdown.
Official NIMCET 2026 Eligibility
Indian Nationals securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale
(55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale in case of SC/ST/PwD) in
(i) Any UG program of minimum three years with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects OR
(ii) B.E. / B.Tech. from a recognized University/Institution are eligible to appear for NIMCET-2026.
Conversion of scored marks from CGPA to percentage and vice-versa is not permitted.
(CGPA other than 10-point scale will be converted to 10-point scale based on unitary method)
Candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for NIMCET-2026. Such candidates shall have to furnish a certificate issued by the Head of Institution where the candidate is studying, confirming that the candidate is appearing in the exam during academic year 2026-27.
All candidates shall submit proof of fulfilling eligibility at the time of Counselling/Admission but not later than 30-09-2026, failing which admission is liable to be cancelled.
Note:
Students who have completed or are completing Bachelor Degree (minimum three years) with Mathematics/Statistics from Open Universities are also eligible, provided the program is approved by UGC / AICTE / DEC of Govt. of India.
The percentage of marks / CGPA in the qualifying degree will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all subjects of all years including languages, optional and additional subjects.
Simple & Easy NIMCET Eligibility (Breakdown Format)
Graduation Marks-
In graduation, UR / OBC / EWS must have at least 60% or 6.5 CGPA (10-point scale)
including all semesters and all subjects mentioned on marksheet. No rounding off allowed.
Example:
If your total is 59.99% → You are NOT eligible.
SC / ST / PwD Relaxation-
Only SC / ST / PwD get 5% relaxation
That means 55% or 6.0 CGPA on 10-point scale.
Graduation Subject Rule-
You can be from any UG program:
- BA
- BCom
- BSc
- BCA
- BBA
- Or any minimum 3-year degree
But you must have Mathematics or Statistics
(at least in one semester, even as optional).
Engineering Students-
BE / BTech students from a recognized university are fully eligible.
Distance Learning Students-
Distance education students like IGNOU, MCRPV etc. are also eligible
if the degree is UGC / AICTE / DEC approved.
12th Marks Rule-
In NIMCET:
- It does not matter whether you had Maths in 12th
- No percentage condition in 12th
You only need to pass 12th.
Appearing / Final Year Students-
Students who are in final year or whose result is not declared can apply. At the time of counselling, you must submit a certificate from your College Principal / HOD stating that you are appearing in the final year exam. If you fail to submit final proof by 30-09-2026, your admission can be cancelled
